About Zygometis xanthogaster (L.Koch, 1875)
Zygometis xanthogaster individuals have a cream-white base color, with brownish-red markings on both the cephalothorax and abdomen. This color pattern allows them to camouflage on white flowers, where they wait to ambush their prey. Adult females reach a body length of 6.5 mm, while adult males reach 3 mm. This species is found in Australia, where it inhabits areas ranging from coastal forests to semi-arid regions, and has been recorded at altitudes as high as 661.5 meters. Zygometis xanthogaster are too small to cause harm to humans. They hunt insect prey through ambush predation.
