About Zygoballus nervosus (G.W.Peckham & E.G.Peckham, 1888)
Zygoballus nervosus was first described by G.W.Peckham and E.G.Peckham in 1888. For adult individuals of this species, females have a body length ranging from 3 to 4 mm, while males have a body length between 2.5 and 4.5 mm. The front sections of the sides of its cephalothorax are nearly vertical, and the back sections are more rounded. The ocular area takes up nearly three-fifths of the total length of the cephalothorax, and it is widest at the position of the posterior lateral eyes (PLE). The anterior median eyes (AME) are twice as large as the anterior lateral eyes (ALE), and the PLE are roughly the same size as the ALE. In 1909, the Peckhams recorded that this species had been collected from Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Virginia, and Illinois. Later recorded distribution locations for the species include Georgia, Florida, Minnesota, eastern and central Texas, Ohio, Kansas, Louisiana, and Quebec. The geographic range of Zygoballus nervosus overlaps with the ranges of two other species in the genus Zygoballus: Z. sexpunctatus and Z. rufipes.
