About Zosterops stuhlmanni Reichenow, 1892

The green white-eye, with the scientific name Zosterops stuhlmanni Reichenow, 1892, is a bird species that belongs to the family Zosteropidae. This species is distributed across Tanzania, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Previously, the green white-eye was classified as a subspecies of the African yellow white-eye, which has since been renamed the northern yellow white-eye (Zosterops senegalensis). It is currently recognized as a distinct species, in part due to phylogenetic relationships identified in a 2013 molecular study. Four subspecies of Zosterops stuhlmanni are currently accepted. Z. s. stuhlmanni Reichenow, 1892 is found in northwest Tanzania, and south and central Uganda. Z. s. reichenowi Dubois, AJC, 1911 occurs in east Democratic Republic of the Congo. Z. s. toroensis Reichenow, 1904 is distributed in northeast Democratic Republic of the Congo and west Uganda. Z. s. scotti Neumann, 1899 is found in southwest Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and in areas of the Virunga Mountains above 3,000 m (9,800 ft).
