About Zosterops senegalensis Bonaparte, 1850

This small yellow bird, Zosterops senegalensis, has a prominent white eye ring that surrounds a dark eye. Its head and underparts are yellow, and it has a black loral stripe and a black bill. Its flight feathers and tail feathers are brown, with yellowish olive edging. Some subspecies, particularly those found in forest habitats, are greener in overall color. Juvenile birds are darker than adults. The species measures 11.5 cm in total length, and individual body weight ranges from 6.8 to 14.1 grams. The northern yellow white-eye is widely distributed across sub-Saharan Africa. Its range extends from Senegal, Gambia, and Mauritania in the west, eastwards to Ethiopia and Eritrea, and southwards to northern Angola.
