About Zosterops olivaceus (Linnaeus, 1766)

As its scientific name suggests, Zosterops olivaceus has an olive green back, yellow rump, gray belly, and black head. A ring of white feathers surrounds its eye. Males and females of this species have no visible distinguishing differences. This bird inhabits elevations between 500 and 2,500 meters. It is frequently found in Réunion National Park and the Bélouve forest, and favors areas where the yellow-flowered tree Hypericum lanceolatum grows. Its thin, slightly curved beak lets it reach flower nectar.
