About Zosterops mauritianus (Gmelin, 1789)

The Mauritius grey white-eye, with the scientific name Zosterops mauritianus, is a bird species that belongs to the Zosteropidae family. It is one of only two white-eye species that are endemic to the island of Mauritius. The second endemic white-eye species is the rare, range-restricted Mauritius olive white-eye. This species can be found living in woodlands, forests, and gardens. The Réunion grey white-eye is a very close relative of the Mauritius grey white-eye. The two species were previously classified as a single conspecific species, and were together known as the Mascarene white-eye.
