About Zosterops auriventer Hume, 1878
Hume's white-eye (Zosterops auriventer) is a bird species belonging to the family Zosteropidae. It occurs in upland regions of Myanmar, southern Thailand, the Malay Peninsula and Borneo. This species was previously classified as a subspecies of the Indian white-eye (Zosterops palpebrosus). Following a study published in two separate articles in 2017, it was elevated to full species status. Two taxa that were formerly treated as subspecies of Everett's white-eye (Zosterops everetti) are now included as subspecies of this species. There are a total of four recognized subspecies: Z. a. auriventer Hume, 1878, which is found in the Tenasserim Hills of southeast Myanmar; Z. a. tahanensis (Ogilvie-Grant, 1906), native to central and southern Malay Peninsula; Z. a. wetmorei (Deignan, 1943), distributed in south Thailand and northern Malay Peninsula; and Z. a. medius Robinson & Kloss, 1923, which occurs in Borneo. Hume's white-eye is omnivorous.
