About Zonotrichia leucophrys (J.R.Forster, 1772)
Adults of this species have black and white stripes on the head, a gray face, brown streaked upper parts, and a long tail. Their wings are brown with bars, and their underparts are gray. The bill can be pink or yellow. In appearance, they are similar to the white-throated sparrow, but lack the white-throated sparrow's white throat markings and yellow lores. The species' standard measurements are: length between 5.9–6.3 in (15–16 cm), weight between 0.9–1.0 oz (25–28 g), and wingspan between 8.3–9.4 in (21–24 cm). This species' breeding habitat is brushy areas across northern Canada and the western United States. It is a very rare vagrant to western Europe, and has been sighted in England, Scotland, Ireland, and Norway. In 2008, a white-crowned sparrow was spotted in Cley next the Sea, Norfolk, England. To commemorate this sighting, an image of the bird was added to a window at St Margaret's Church.
