Zaretis itys has a wingspan of approximately 55–60 millimetres, which equals 2.2–2.4 inches. The upper surface of both of its wings is dull orange. The lower surface of the wings matches the color and pattern of dried leaves, and its base ground color is typically earthy brown. This species can be found ranging from Mexico to the Guyanas, Paraguay, Suriname, and Brazil.
