About Zanclognatha lituralis Hübner, 1818
Zanclognatha lituralis, commonly known as the lettered zanclognatha, is a species of litter moth that belongs to the family Erebidae. This species was originally described by Jacob Hübner in 1818. It is found in North America, ranging from Wisconsin to Nova Scotia, and extending south to Florida and Texas. The wingspan of adult individuals is about 21 millimetres, which is equivalent to 0.83 inches. Adult moths are active and can be seen in flight from May to August each year. In the northern part of its range, this species produces one generation per year. From Ohio and Connecticut southward, there is one full generation and at least a partial second generation annually. The larvae of Zanclognatha lituralis feed on detritus, including dead leaves.
