About Yucca arkansana Trel.

Yucca arkansana, commonly known as the Arkansas yucca, is a species of plant in the family Asparagaceae. It is native to Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, and Kansas. It typically grows in gravelly, sunny locations, including rocky outcrops and prairies. This species is not classified as threatened. Yucca arkansana is one of the smaller members of the genus Yucca; it is acaulescent, or if it produces a stem, the stem reaches no more than 76 cm in height. Its flowers are greenish-white, and they grow on a flowering stalk that can reach up to 180 cm (72 inches) tall. Several species of yucca moths use Y. arkansana as a host plant to lay their eggs; one example of such a yucca moth is Tegeticula intermedia.
