About Xystrocera globosa (Olivier, 1795)

Xystrocera globosa is a reddish-brown longhorn beetle that ranges from 1.5 to 3.2 centimetres (0.59 to 1.3 inches) in length. It can be told apart from other species in the genus Xystrocera by its ruddy antennae, dark bands on its elytra (hardened forewings), and narrow bands along its sides. This species is distributed across temperate and tropical Asia, with known occurrences ranging from Japan to Sri Lanka, including India, Pakistan, and the Korean peninsula. It is also found across southeast Asia, from Thailand and Vietnam down through the Malay peninsula and Maritime Southeast Asia, including the Philippines, extending to New Guinea and northern Australia. It has additionally been recorded in Madagascar, Egypt, Puerto Rico, Mauritius, tropical Africa, and the Nearctic. Xystrocera globosa has been introduced to the Caribbean, Israel, and Hawaii, where it has been reported from Oahu and Honolulu and was very likely introduced by human activity.
