Xyris platylepis Chapm., commonly called tall yelloweyed grass, is a North American flowering plant species that belongs to the yellow-eyed-grass family. This species grows on the coastal plain of the southeastern and south-central United States, ranging from eastern Texas to Virginia. Xyris platylepis is a perennial herb that reaches up to 100 cm (40 inches) in height, with long, narrow leaves that can grow up to 50 cm (20 inches) long. It grows in habitat types including sandhill seeps, savannahs, and other similar habitats.
