About Xyris montana Ries

Xyris montana Ries is a perennial herb that grows up to 30 cm (12 inches) tall. It produces long, narrow, deep-green leaves that reach up to 15 cm (6 inches) in length, and are less than 3 mm (0.12 inches) wide. This species typically flowers from summer through fall. Xyris montana is distributed across eastern and central Canada, ranging from Ontario to the island of Newfoundland. It also occurs in the northeastern and north-central United States, ranging from Minnesota to New England and New Jersey. It grows in wetlands, stream banks, and the shores of glacial lakes, at elevations between 0 and 500 m (0 and 1,640 ft) above sea level.
