About Xyris ambigua Beyr. ex Kunth
Xyris ambigua, commonly called the coastal plain yelloweyed grass, is a North American species of flowering plant in the yellow-eyed-grass family. Its native range includes southern and eastern Mexico (covering Tamaulipas, Veracruz, Tabasco, Chiapas, and the Yucatán), Central America (covering Belize, Honduras, and Nicaragua), Cuba, and the southeastern and south-central United States, ranging from Texas to Virginia, and inland to Tennessee and Arkansas. Xyris ambigua is a perennial herb that can grow up to 100 cm (40 inches) tall. It has grass-like leaves that typically reach 15 to 40 centimeters (6 to 15 inches) in length, and it produces yellow flowers.
