About Xylosma flexuosa (Kunth) Hemsl.

Xylosma flexuosa (Kunth) Hemsl., commonly called brushholly or coronilla, is a species of flowering plant in the family Salicaceae. It is native to southern North America and northern South America, with a range extending from southern Texas in the United States, south through Mexico and Central America, all the way to Venezuela. It can also be found growing on the island of Curaçao in the Netherlands Antilles.

This plant is a spiny evergreen shrub. It most commonly grows to 1 to 2 meters (3.3 to 6.6 feet) tall, but it can reach heights of 6 to 8 meters (20 to 26 feet). It produces red and yellow berries around 7 to 8 millimeters (0.28 to 0.31 inches) in diameter, which are present on the plant year-round. Xylosma flexuosa is sometimes cultivated to be used as an ornamental hedge.
