Xylocopa tabaniformis Smith, 1854, commonly called the horsefly-like carpenter bee or mountain carpenter bee, is a species of carpenter bee belonging to the family Apidae. This species is found across Central America, North America, and South America. Individuals measure 12–18 millimetres (15⁄32–23⁄32 of an inch) in length, and their bodies are black. Male individuals have yellow hair covering their thoraxes.
