About Xenobolus carnifex (Fabricius, 1775)

Xenobolus carnifex is a species of spirobolidan millipede that is native to South India and Sri Lanka, where it is quite widespread across its range. This species can act as a household pest, damaging thatched roofs and raiding stored food and water resources. Adult individuals of X. carnifex measure between 58 and 65 mm (2.3 to 2.6 inches) in total length, and have between 48 and 50 body segments. The body of this millipede is dark or black in overall color, with a continuous red or pink band running along the dorsal midline of the body.
