About Xanthorrhoea resinosa Pers.
Xanthorrhoea resinosa Pers. has synonyms Xanthorrhoea hastilis and Xanthorrhoea resinifera. It is a mid-sized grass tree, belonging to the genus Xanthorrhoea. Its specific epithet comes from Latin, and means "having resin". This perennial shrub grows in heathland or eucalyptus forest. The plant usually has no trunk, or only a small trunk around 60 cm (24 inches) high that sits beneath the skirt of old leaves. Overall, it can reach a total height of 2.5 metres (8 feet). It is similar in appearance to Xanthorrhoea media. Its leaves are glaucous, and only 3 to 4 mm wide. Flowering takes place between August and October. The flowering spike is shorter than the scape, and has a distinctly furry texture from its felty bracts.
