About Xanthorrhoea minor R.Br.
Xanthorrhoea minor R.Br. is a trunkless grasstree species in the Asphodelaceae family, native to south-eastern Australia. Scottish botanist Robert Brown first described this species. Unlike many other grasstree species, Xanthorrhoea minor does not have a trunk; its leaves grow from one or more underground stems. Its leaves are green, and it flowers between October and November. Two subspecies are currently recognised: X. minor subsp. lutea, which occurs in South Australia and Victoria, and X. minor subsp. minor, which occurs in New South Wales. X. minor subsp. minor grows in wet, poorly drained areas such as swamps; its range within New South Wales spans the Sydney Basin, north to Gosford, west to Springwood, and south to Campbelltown.
