The saffron-cowled blackbird, with the scientific name Xanthopsar flavus, is a bird species that belongs to the Icteridae family. It is the only species classified in the genus Xanthopsar. This bird has bright yellow underparts and black or dark brown upperparts. It can be found in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and at Quebrada de los Cuervos in Uruguay. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry lowland grassland, subtropical or tropical seasonally wet or flooded lowland grassland, and pastureland. This species is currently threatened by habitat loss.
