Xanthichthys mento, commonly known as the redtail triggerfish, blue-throat triggerfish, or crosshatch triggerfish, is a species of triggerfish that originates from the Pacific Ocean. It lives in outer-reef areas, found at depths ranging from 6 to 131 meters (20 to 430 feet). This species feeds on zooplankton. When fully grown, Xanthichthys mento reaches a maximum length of 29 centimeters (11 inches). Individuals of this species occasionally enter the aquarium trade.
