About Witsenia maura (L.) Thunb.

Witsenia is a genus of flowering plants belonging to the family Iridaceae. This genus was first formally described in 1782, and only one species is known to belong to it: Witsenia maura. This species is endemic to Cape Province, located in western South Africa. The genus name was chosen to honor Nicolaas Witsen, a patron of botany.
