Wainuia urnula (Reeve, 1854) is a species that inhabits the North Island of New Zealand. This species has distinctive coloration: it has a large reddish patch in the umbilicus, and its foot is maroon. Its current shells are relatively small compared to subfossil shells of the species from the same native island. Recorded dimensions for a group of Wainuia urnula eggs are as follows, in millimeters: 5 × 4, 5 × 4, 5 × 4, 5 × 3.75, 4.5 × 3.5, and 5.25 × 4.25.
