About Vitreoporus dichrous (Fr.) Zmitr.

Vitreoporus dichrous (Fr.) Zmitr., also known by the synonym Gloeoporus dichrous, is a fungus species belonging to the family Irpicaceae. Elias Magnus Fries first described this species in 1815 under the name Polyporus dichrous. In 1912, Italian mycologist Giacomo Bresadola transferred the species to the genus Gloeoporus. Molecular analysis conducted in 2008 showed that the taxon previously called Ceriporiopsis nigra was conspecific with this species, so this material was published as the variety Gloeoporus dichrous var. niger. This species is inedible.
