About Vireo flavifrons Vieillot, 1808
This species, Vireo flavifrons Vieillot, 1808, has the following adult appearance. The head and upperparts are mainly olive, with a yellow throat and white belly. Dark eyes are surrounded by distinctive yellow markings called "spectacles". The tail and wings are dark, marked with white wing bars. Adults have thick blue-grey legs and a stout bill. Measured adult dimensions are 5.1โ5.9 inches (13โ15 cm) in length, 0.5โ0.7 ounces (15โ21 g) in weight, and an average wingspan of 9.1 inches (23 cm). For habitat and distribution, this species breeds in open deciduous woods across southern Canada and the eastern United States. It is migratory, wintering in the deep southern United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America. It is a very rare vagrant to western Europe, with two confirmed records: one from Kenidjack Valley, Cornwall, Great Britain in September 1990, and another from Heligoland, a small German archipelago in the German Bight, in September 1998.
