About Viola bakeri Greene

Viola bakeri, scientifically named Viola bakeri Greene, is an herb that grows from a woody taproot. Its maximum height ranges from just a few centimeters to around 30 centimeters, or 12 inches. The species produces leaves with lance-shaped blades that grow up to 5 or 6 centimeters long, and each leaf is attached to its stem via a petiole. The leaves are usually hairless, but may develop hairs along their veins and edges. A single solitary flower grows on an upright stem. The flower has five yellow petals: the lowest three petals are marked with brown veining, while the upper two petals sometimes have a brown or purple tinge on their outer surface.
