About Vicia unijuga A.Braun

Vicia unijuga, commonly known as two-leaf vetch, is a species of flowering plant belonging to the legume family. It is native to eastern Asia, where it has a widespread range across China, Korea, Mongolia, Japan, and Russia. It is very common in both China and Japan, and may be the most widespread Vicia species in China. It grows in a wide variety of forested and open habitats. It is a perennial plant that produces purple flowers from summer through fall. This species shows a large amount of morphological variation, and several distinct forms and varieties have been formally named. Historically, the similar-looking species Vicia ohwiana was classified within Vicia unijuga, but Vicia ohwiana is now recognized as a separate full species.
