About Vicia dumetorum L.
Vicia dumetorum L. is a herbaceous, erect perennial plant. It typically grows to a height of 60 to 200 centimeters (24 to 79 inches). This species is quite rare and displays morphological variation. Its leaves are pinnate, with 3 to 5 pairs of ovate leaflets that measure 1.5 to 4 centimeters (0.59 to 1.57 inches) in length. The plant produces stalked flower clusters, each containing 3 to 12 bluish-violet flowers, and its blooming period runs from May to June. This species is distributed across Central, Northern, and Eastern Europe, as well as Western Asia. Vicia dumetorum grows in calcareous mountain woodland, open deciduous woodlands, and hedgerows, at elevations ranging from 0 to 1,000 meters (0 to 3,281 feet) above sea level. The species epithet dumetorum derives from the Latin word dumetum, meaning bush or hedge, which references this plant's typical habitat.
