It is native to central and southern China, Taiwan, and Luzon, which is part of the Philippines. This plant is a dense, rounded evergreen shrub that grows to 6–8 ft, or 1.8–2.4 m, in height. It is valued for use in landscaping and is hardy enough to grow in USDA zone 7.
