About Viburnum davidi Franch.

Viburnum davidii, commonly called David viburnum, is a flowering plant species in the Adoxaceae family, native to western China. This evergreen shrub grows 1.5 meters (5 feet) tall and wide, and produces large, glossy oval leaves that can reach up to 15 centimeters (6 inches) in length. Each leaf has three distinct curved, deeply indented lengthwise veins. In late spring, it bears round clusters of tiny white flowers. These flowers are followed by oval blue fruits in late summer and autumn. To produce fruit, both male and female plants are required. This species is one of several plants named to honor Père Armand David, a 19th-century French missionary and botanist. It has been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
