About Vibidia duodecimguttata (Poda, 1761)

Vibidia duodecimguttata grows to a length of around 4 millimetres (0.16 inches). These beetles have an oval body, with fairly long, light brown antennae. Their elytra have a slightly widened side edge. The entire upper and lower body has a light brown base color; only the eyes are black. The elytra bear 12 whitish spots, with six spots on each elytron. This feature gives the species its Latin name duodecimguttata, which means twelve-spotted, as if marked by drops. A whitish spot is present on each side of the throat. This species looks similar to Calvia decemguttata and Halyzia sedecimguttata. This species is found across most of Europe, the eastern Palearctic realm, and the Near East.
