Vestalis apicalis Selys, 1873 is a large metallic emerald-green damselfly. It has yellowish green eyes capped with brown, and the tips of all its wings are broadly marked with blackish-brown. Females are similar in form to males, but have duller body coloration, and their apical wing markings are usually paler and less sharply defined. This species breeds in forest streams. Individuals are commonly found resting in groups among bushes along shaded forest paths, alongside the related species Vestalis gracilis.
