About Vesper purpurascens (A.Gray) R.L.Hartm. & G.L.Nesom
Vesper purpurascens (A.Gray) R.L.Hartm. & G.L.Nesom, synonymized as Cymopterus purpurascens, is a species of flowering plant in the carrot family, Apiaceae. It is commonly known as widewing springparsley. This species is native to a large portion of the western United States, including its desert regions. It is a perennial herb that is often stemless; it produces its leaves and inflorescence from ground level, or from a fibrous basal stalk. Its waxy, fleshy leaves have blades divided into multilobed leaflets, and grow on short petioles. The inflorescence is a rounded cluster of flowers, held on a peduncle that may be erect, reach several centimeters in height, or be nearly nonexistent. The purple flowers are enclosed by dark-veined white bracts.
