About Veronica hectorii Hook.fil.

Veronica hectorii Hook.fil. is a small shrub that grows up to 1 metre tall. Its leaf apex is not thickened, which distinguishes it from Veronica tetragona. Three subspecies have recorded distributions in New Zealand. Veronica hectorii subsp. hectorii and subsp. demissa occur in the southern South Island, from Aoraki / Mount Cook southwards, and also on Stewart Island. Veronica hectorii subsp. coarctata grows in the north and west of the South Island. The entire species occurs in subalpine and low alpine habitats.
