Vernonia lindheimeri, commonly called woolly ironweed, is a species of flowering plant in the Asteraceae (aster) family. It is native to North America, occurring in Coahuila, Mexico, and Texas, United States. Its natural habitat consists of open, calcareous areas. This species is a robust perennial that grows up to 3 feet high. It has narrow linear leaves that are covered in white woolly fuzz on their undersides. It produces purple flower heads during the summer.
