About Vernonia fasciculata Michx.
Vernonia fasciculata Michx. is an herbaceous perennial that grows 2–4 ft (0.61–1.22 m) tall, producing unbranched stems. The stems end in inflorescences holding magenta flowers arranged in a dense corymb. In cultivation, V. fasciculata is winter hardy in USDA zones 4 through 9. It is planted in full sun, and used for rain gardens and as a naturalized plant thanks to its showy flower display. This species is deer tolerant and adaptable to wet soils.
