About Verbena bipinnatifida var. nepetifolia (Tidestr.) Jeps.
Verbena bipinnatifida is an herbaceous or semi-woody perennial plant. It produces pink or purple flowers, primarily in spring, but it can bloom at any time during the growing season. Its leaves are finely dissected into segments that measure 1–4 mm wide. It can be told apart from the similar species Verbena tenera by its longer flower bracts and wider leaf segments. This variety is native to North America, with a natural range that extends from the United States south to Nicaragua. Within the United States, it occurs primarily in the Great Plains and the Blackland Prairies of the Southeast. In other parts of North America, it is occasionally found as a non-persistent waif that does not establish permanent populations. Its natural habitat is open grassy areas, including prairies. It can be found growing in both high-quality natural communities and disturbed areas.
