About Verbena bipinnatifida Schauer
Verbena bipinnatifida Schauer is an herbaceous or semi-woody perennial plant. It produces pink or purple flowers, with the main blooming period in spring, though it can bloom at any time during the growing season. Its leaves are finely dissected into segments that measure 1–4 mm wide. It can be told apart from the similar-looking species Verbena tenera by its longer flower bracts and wider leaf segments. This species is native to North America, with a natural range that stretches from the United States south to Nicaragua. In the United States, it occurs primarily in the Great Plains and the Blackland Prairies of the Southeast. In other parts of North America, it is occasionally found as a non-persisting waif. Its natural habitat is open grassy areas, including prairies, and it can grow in both high-quality natural communities and disturbed areas.
