Vepris lanceolata (Lam.) G.Don, commonly known as umZane or white ironwood, is a large evergreen tree native to southern and eastern Africa. Its distribution extends from southeastern Kenya, through Tanzania and Mozambique, to South Africa. In South Africa, it grows in coastal evergreen thicket or on loose sandy soil near beaches, at elevations between sea level and 30 meters.
