About Vanessa abyssinica

Vanessa abyssinica, commonly known as the Abyssinian admiral, is a butterfly species belonging to the family Nymphalidae. This species can be found in Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Its natural habitat is made up of montane forests. The larvae of Vanessa abyssinica feed on Urtica massaica and Obetia pinnatifida. Traditionally, this species was classified as a member of the genus Antanartia, but recent research has confirmed it belongs to the V. atalanta species group within the genus Vanessa.
