About Valeriana pauciflora Michx.
Valeriana pauciflora, commonly known as largeflower valerian, is a flowering plant species in the Caprifoliaceae family. It is native to the Eastern United States, specifically occurring in the Interior Low Plateau, Ohio River drainage, and Potomac River Valley regions. Within this range, it grows in very nutrient-rich, mesic forest communities, most often in stream valleys or on lower slopes. Valeriana pauciflora is a conservative perennial plant that is restricted to high-quality habitats. It blooms with flowers ranging from white to light pink in late spring and early summer. This species can produce seeds without insect pollination, and may also be cross-pollinated by butterflies. Its specific epithet pauciflora is Latin for 'few flowered'.
