About Valeria oleagina (Denis & Schiffermüller), 1775
This entry covers the technical description and variation of Valeria oleagina. For adult moths, the forewing is purple, with veins broadly green, especially along the termen. The lines are blackish and indistinct. The claviform spot is small and obscure; the orbicular spot is round, green, and bordered by a white ring. The reniform spot is large, white, and has a dark speck at each end. The submarginal line is whitish and lunulate, preceded by contiguous purple-brown lunules. The fringe is iron-grey, divided by white markings at the veins. The hindwing is white, with a fuscous cell spot, outer line, submarginal band, and fringes. The marginal line is wavy and black. Full-grown larvae are brownish-grey, and paler on the anterior segments. The posterior segments have oblique pale streaks along their sides. A pair of blunt points is present on the 11th and 12th body segments. Spiracles are black, positioned between two yellow lateral lines. The head is black, with an orange-yellow prothoracic corslet. The adult wingspan measures 34–38 mm.
