About Urtica chamaedryoides Pursh

Urtica chamaedryoides, commonly known as heartleaf nettle, is a species of flowering plant belonging to the Urticaceae family. It is native to the Southeastern United States and northern Mexico, where it most often grows in rich, moist wooded areas. In some parts of Florida, it has grown to become a weed of lawns and pastures. Similar to other nettle species, Urtica chamaedryoides grows stinging hairs that cause a sting similar to that from insect venom when touched. This species produces small green flowers that are pollinated by wind.
