About Urosphena squameiceps (Swinhoe, 1863)

Urosphena squameiceps, commonly known as the Asian stubtail, is a small bird with a short tail. Males and females have similar coloration, and this similarity also extends to fledged juvenile birds. The entire body is brown, with paler underparts, and darker brown coloring on the crest and eyeline. During the breeding season, this species lives in parts of northeastern Asia. In the non-breeding season, it occurs in Hainan, Taiwan, southeastern China, and Indochina. It prefers to inhabit the undergrowth of evergreen broadleaf forests or lowland coniferous forests.
