About Urosaurus bicarinatus (Duméril, 1856)

Urosaurus bicarinatus, first formally described by Duméril in 1856, is a species of lizard. It belongs to the subfamily Sceloporinae, within the lizard family Phrynosomatidae. This species has two common names: it is called the tropical tree lizard in English, and roñito arborícola in Mexican Spanish. The species is endemic to Mexico, meaning it occurs naturally nowhere else outside of this country. Currently, there are five recognized subspecies of Urosaurus bicarinatus. Its preferred natural habitat is forest. Urosaurus bicarinatus reproduces by laying eggs, which makes it an oviparous species.
