About Urophycis chuss (Walbaum, 1792)

Urophycis chuss (Walbaum, 1792), commonly called red hake or squirrel hake, is a species of phycid hake. This fish lives in the Atlantic Ocean, at depths ranging from 10 to 500 meters. Mature individuals can grow to around 30 inches (75 centimeters) in length and weigh up to 7 pounds (3.2 kilograms). Red hake is edible, and it is targeted as a gamefish by recreational fishermen.
