About Urodacus novaehollandiae Peters, 1861

Urodacus novaehollandiae, first described by Peters in 1861, reaches an adult length of approximately 70 to 100 mm. Its body is primarily yellowish-brown to dark brown, with darker colouration on the head and pincers. This species is distributed along the South Australian coast starting west of Adelaide, extending around the Great Australian Bight and through south-west Western Australia all the way to Perth. It inhabits coastal dunes, and can also be found in sandy soils further inland at the western end of its distribution range.
