About Urbanus procne (Plötz, 1881)
Spicauda procne, commonly known as the brown longtail, is a species of butterfly that belongs to the Hesperiidae family. This species is distributed from Argentina, northward through Central America and Mexico to southern Texas. Rare stray individuals can be found as far north as southern New Mexico, southern Arizona, and southern California. The wingspan of adult brown longtails ranges from 37 to 48 millimeters. In southern Texas, this species produces three generations per year. The larvae feed on a variety of grasses, including Cynodon dactylon and Sorghum halepense. This species has the scientific name Urbanus procne (Plötz, 1881).
