About Urapteroides astheniata (Guenée, 1857)
This species, Urapteroides astheniata, has a wingspan of approximately 60–76 mm. Its overall body color is white. A black line runs along the upperside of the palpi, with a black frontal line and a black spot located on the vertex of the head. On the forewings, several black strigae extend out from the costa. Six oblique fuscous bands are present across the forewings: one is sub-basal, another lies on the discocellulars, and the remaining four are medial, postmedial, sub-marginal, and marginal. Additional fuscous striae occur on both sides of the sub-marginal band. On the hindwings, a fuscous band runs along the inner margin. This band is joined at the anal angle by a second band that originates from the upper angle of the cell, and the inner margin band is almost met by a third band that extends from the costa beyond the middle of the wing. Submarginal striae are visible on the hindwings. A black marginal line extends from the apex to the tail, and a very narrow line that contains three internal spots runs from the tail to the anal angle. The tips of the cilia are black. Mature larvae are pale reddish yellow with a green tinge, and have reddish transverse stripes across their dorsal surface. Each segment features three comma-shaped greenish markings in its central area. Final instar larvae are more greenish overall, and have variable markings. The head and prothorax are glossy greenish, and the spiracles are dark. The larvae of Urapteroides astheniata feed on plants of the genus Endospermum.
